There are words like freedom
Sweet and wonderful to say,
On my heartstrings freedom sings
All day every day.

There are words like liberty
That almost makes me cry,
If you had known what I know
You would know why.

- Langston Hughes

Additional lyrics from the song, “Words Like Freedom”:

Freedom and liberty are more than just words to say.
They’re lit by the fire of human desire,
these torches that guide our way.

No matter what race or background,
what faith or cause or creed,
we each deserve true liberty and the right to be free.

    How can one…..

How can one speak of freedom,
When shackles are placed upon birth.
Do we not find constraints in the abundance
Who can deny the legacy of our ancestor’s enigmas
Are we too blind to see the authority given to these fears of old
    Must we continue in ignorance

How can one speak of compassion
When the out stretched hand is guarded with pride
Do we not find it easier to simply look away
Who can deny the callousness of our hearts
Are we too blind to see what examples we leave to our young
    Must we be so selfish

How can one speak of peace
When hatred has become the god of this world
Do we not easily condemn what is not understood
Who can deny the graves of the fallen
Are we too blind to see the mistakes of generations before
    Must we live in conflict

    Can anyone speak of Love

    Lafleche

there are so many things we can never understand no matter how much we try to
there is so much hatred around the world
but we just ought to be thankful when it doesn’t happen to us

we need to face the direction of light and keep on believing in Christ
he has the purpose for all that’s happening therefore we only need to realize the little love around us to embrace our hearts

    you may just never know
maybe the world has so much hate because that’s what you talk about and concentrate on more
